What is
Health Navigation?

Health navigation is what Medcor does
for employers and their employees who
are otherwise locked into the traditional
healthcare process.

The traditional healthcare process makes billions of dollars on claims, regardless of whether the claims were for necessary treatments. Research suggests about 20% of medical care is unnecessary. Health navigation uses evidence-based medicine, unmatched proprietary systems, patented assessment methods, and software to make smart decisions about the care patients need, to bolster health security, and to prevent unnecessary claims.

We answer the important questions that often get overlooked
in the traditional healthcare process:

Does this injury require more than first aid?

A work-related injury that is incorrectly treated with more than first aid becomes an unnecessary OSHA recordable. We identify the injuries that truly only need first aid using our proprietary technology, care protocols, algorithms, and patented assessment methods. 

If the injury does need more than first aid, can it be treated by a health professional at the worksite?

Many injuries that need more care than first aid can still be treated by Medcor onsite, saving productive time at work. 

Or can the patient get care right now through telemedicine?

Using Medcor’s telemedicine, patients can virtually visit doctors for prescriptions and orders for physical therapy, saving them a trip offsite.

If the patient does need offsite care, where will they get the most appropriate level of care?

When a referral is needed, we send patients to the appropriate level of care within your provider network. Unlike many clinic providers, Medcor does not operate a chain of offsite healthcare facilities that benefit by the increased utilization from referrals. Because our financial model isn’t tied to making a profit from insurance claims, we can freely guide patients to the best place for their care in your provider network. 

How soon will the patient need to go offsite for care?

Sometimes a patient‘s health concern can wait for offsite care until after work. We use evidence-based medicine to make smart decisions about when to recommend offsite care. 

How will the patient stay on track to return to productive work?

With a Medcor clinic onsite, we can help employees make the most use of modified and alternate duty. We are there to track their recovery. Medcor telemedicine gives the option for remote return-to-work clearances. 

What other health services can be provided at the workplace to save employers and employees time and money?

We do onsite drug and alcohol testing, audiometric testing, respirator fit testing, and fitness for duty exams; doing these onsite is a big cost saver. 

How can illnesses and workplace injuries be prevented?

We promote Guiding Health Principles for wellness. We support safety programs through data trend analyses, safety program development, and safety staffing and training. 

How can technology help ensure consistent treatments, easier reporting, better analysis, and continuous QA?

Our technology captures click feedback data for our patient encounters, whether in person or virtually, that facilitates the consistency in delivery of care, documentation, reporting, and trend analyses, and monitors outcomes for our own quality assurance process.
