Worried about overeating or eating a lot of the wrong things during the holidays?
Keep these four tips in mind.
- At those festive holiday meals: Fill your plate with fruits and veggies before dipping into your favorite high-calorie dishes. This will help you keep portion sizes smaller and exercise moderation when it comes to your favorite foods.
- Going to a party? You may not know if the menu your hosts are serving will be balanced. Offer to bring a healthy side dish for everyone to enjoy.
- If you are traveling, think ahead and pack healthy real-food snacks to munch on, like nuts and berries, so you are less tempted to indulge in ultra-processed convenience snacks.
- Eat SLOWLY. When you’re eating, it takes approximately 20 minutes for your brain to realize you’re full. If you eat quickly, you risk eating much more than your body needs.
