Let’s Talk

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Video is intentionally excluded from Medcor’s model. Triage is driven by an evidence-based algorithm — the same standardized questions guide every call, regardless of which clinician is in the chair. Video introduces subjectivity: once a nurse sees an injury, clinical judgment replaces the algorithm. That inconsistency is exactly what Medcor’s model is designed to avoid. Nurses can escalate a recommended care level but cannot downgrade it, which preserves both consistency and defensibility.

  • Outbound follow-up calls are not standardand that is by design. Follow-up calls have a tendency to unnecessarily escalate situations. Employees are welcome to call back at any time, and Medcor offers Administrative Outreach as a separate, proactive program for employers who want structured follow-up touchpoints built into their program.

  • Medcor does not call providers ahead of a referral. Instead, we fax relevant documentation directly to the provideras long as we have a fax numberso the employee is never put on hold while we coordinate. Speed of handoff matters for both employee experience and claim outcomes.

  • Yes. All Medcor triage nurses are trained in OSHA recordability rules and understand the distinction between recordable and non-recordable incidents. They are also trained on the workers’ compensation framework, though Medcor’s role is clinical guidance, not claims management.

  • Yes. Medcor’s nurses are trained on state-specific workers’ compensation requirements. Our service covers all U.S. states, territories and Canadian provinces.

  • Yes. Medcor offers translation support, and approximately 25% of triage nurses are bilingual. Translation fees are passed through as a separate cost regardless of who provides the service.

  • All Medcor triage nurses are based in the United States. Triage is their sole focus, they do not carry other clinical or administrative responsibilities during their shifts. That single-purpose model is a core part of what makes response times and consistency reliable.

  • The opposite is typically true. Medcor’s triage captures structured incident documentation in real time. When triage is implemented consistently, 80% of incidents are reported within 24 hours and 90% within 72 hours. Standardized intake removes the variability that causes reporting lag and compliance risk.
